On Saturday, the public will be able to discover Budapest’s new sports and leisure park, the National Athletics Center, at a free family day, which will also include parts of the World Athletics Championships venue that will not be open to the public during the Championships, organizers said.

A special feature of the family day will be the availability of special boat services operated by the passenger cruise company in Hungary, MAHART. According to the organizers’ announcement, the company will not only add extra services, but also new stops during the World Athletics Championships.

The boat ticket, which costs HUF 1,500 (EUR 4) and is valid for the whole day, will provide transport to the National Athletics Center on the Pest side of the Danube, south of the Rákóczi Bridge. As the organizers say,

arriving by boat – whether for the opening day or the World Championships – is “not only charming and spectacular, but also practical, as the main entrance is only a few minutes’ walk from the nearest harbor.”
