Membership in the European Parliament Seemingly Now a “Get Out of Jail Ticket” for Criminals

Hungary Today 2024.04.30.

Alleged ANTIFA activist Ilaria Salis’s letter was published by the Corriere della Sera in an online article, reports Mandiner.

In the letter, Ms. Salis expressed gratitude to the Italian people, both friends and strangers, for their unwavering support during what she described as a traumatic ordeal lasting over a year. She emphasized that her intention is not to evade the legal proceedings she faces but to defend herself in a fair trial, upholding fundamental rights, the principle of proportionality, and the presumption of innocence.

Ms. Salis acknowledged that her situation is not unique and highlighted the prevalence of similar injustices across Europe.

“After much contemplation and many sleepless nights,” she announced her decision to accept the candidacy as a Member of the European Parliament. Her goal is to shed light on the plight of others facing similar circumstances and to turn her personal adversity into an opportunity for positive change in safeguarding fundamental rights.
