Tom Jones Taken Ill, Budapest Concert Canceled

Hungary Today 2022.07.13.

Sir Tom Jones was taken ill before his concert in Budapest, and a doctor was called to the popular Welsh singer, Index has learned. The press officers of the Surrounded by Time tour confirmed that the 81-year-old star was not feeling well.

As we have reported before, the world-famous singer was to give a concert on July 12th, at the MVM Dome in Budapest.

According to Index‘s on-site correspondent, word of mouth started to spread, and then the organizers officially announced that the concert was canceled.

Index also asked the National Ambulance Service (OMSZ) about the singer’s condition, and they said that they had “not received any such request,” which makes it likely that the star was cared for by his private medical team. This is confirmed by the information that Tom Jones has withdrawn from tonight’s concert in Budapest on the advice of his doctors.

The concert is rescheduled for August 16, 2022. On behalf of Tom Jones, the organizers apologized to the audience in both English and Hungarian, and said that the singer was looking forward to performing in Budapest in the future. Tickets are still valid for the August concert.

Tom Jones also posted on Facebook, explaining what happened:

According to the Index correspondent, the audience received the news with understanding and patience, leaving the concert venue in orderly queues.

The renowned singer had visited Hungary several times in recent years. He once gave a big concert in Budapest, and twice in Veszprém, where he met Hungarian audiences at the city’s festival.
