“The contract extension was a big wish of mine,” said Péter Gulácsi. “I have celebrated great successes with RB Leipzig, such as winning the German Cup and the UEFA Super Cup, but even in difficult times I have always felt the support of the club and the people here. My goal is to continue our joint success story with the support of the fans.” The player added that he feels he still has some really good years ahead of him.
“Last season we could see the potential of this team with this coaching staff and the whole club. I am really looking forward to the new season,” he noted, stressing that he and his family are enjoying their stay in Leipzig, which has become their second home.
For me, the contract extension was not only a sporting decision, but also a decision from the heart,”
concluded Gulácsi.
He’s staying until 2026

The goalkeeper is not the only Hungarian footballer to have signed a contract extension with a German team. As Hungary Today recently reported, Bundesliga side Union Berlin have announced on their official website that they have extended the contract of Hungarian international football player András Schäfer. He arrived at Union Berlin in January 2022, having previously spent time abroad with DAC, Genoa, and Chievo Verona. His contract was due to expire in May and has now been extended. No details of the deal were released by the club. The 25-year-old midfielder has made 49 appearances for Union, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
