Futuristic Ultra-Luxury Ships to Sail on the Danube

Hungary Today 2024.03.06.

APT (Australia’s largest family-owned tour and cruise company) is to launch two new ultra-luxury riverboats next year, which will also operate on the Danube, reports Turizmus.com.

The APT Solara and APT Ostara will operate on Europe’s most popular river routes: the Rhine, the Main and the Danube, from March 2025.

Designed by the architectural firm Hecker Guthrie, the sister vessels have been built to set new sustainability standards, reducing fuel consumption and waste generated while optimizing energy use, according to APT.

The design of the riverboats, which can accommodate 154 guests, has focused on maximizing the use of vast spaces and light.

Both the Solara and Ostara will also offer a range of all-inclusive options, from an exclusive restaurant to an intimate wine cellar and conservatory.

Fact

Guests can choose from three luxuriously appointed suite categories: the Twin Window, Balcony, and the lavish Owner’s Suites. The six unique dining venues on board include an elegant main restaurant, a cozy wine cellar, a relaxing conservatory, a casual lounge, an exclusive back restaurant serving seasonal products, and rooftop al fresco dining. There is also an all-season sun terrace offering rooftop dining, a pool, and a lounge area, where guests can enjoy the sunset with a cocktail. In addition, a range of wellness offerings cater to guests’ health and fitness goals, including an on-board gym, a hairdresser, and an indulgent spa. E-bikes are also available for exploring the shores.

As TTG writes, APT Travel Group chief executive David Cox added: “With two brand-new river ships in Europe for 2025, this is another momentous milestone in APT’s near 100-year history. APT Solara and APT Ostara will redefine luxury river cruising, thoughtfully designed with our valued guests in mind.” APT is hopeful of cementing its place as an ultra-luxury market leader with the launch of the two new riverboats.
