National Bank Supports the Studies of Fifteen Hungarian Minority Students

MTI-Hungary Today 2023.06.14.

Fifteen Hungarian students from Romania, Serbia, Ukraine and Slovakia received the Pallas Athéné Excellence Scholarship from Zoltán Dubéczi, Presidential Advisor to the President of the National Bank of Hungary (MNB) and President of the MNB Education and Science Circle Association (MNB Education Club), in Subotica, Serbia.

According to the statement, the scholarship will provide a net grant of HUF 50,000monthly (about 135 euros) for ten months, for the academic year 2022-2023. The grant was offered to selected students who were able to receive their diploma after the epidemic.

In his speech, Zoltán Dubéczi said that he presented the certificates of excellence last weekend in Miercurea-Ciuc, Romania (Csíkszereda), but students from the Partium Christian University in Oradea, Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj, (Romania), Ferenc Rákóczi II College in Berehovo (Ukraine) and Selye János University in Komárno (Slovakia) also received such recognition.

He recalled that

the scholarship was established in 2016 by the MNB for economics students from Hungary, and in 2018 PADME extended it to Hungarian students from abroad.

It is important not only to provide scholarships, but also to provide a background for students’ professional activities, and the MNB Education Club, which organizes various activities, plays a major role in this, he said.
In the autumn, together with the Hungarian Economists’ Association, a study competition will be organized for Hungarian students in Vojvodina, accompanied by a visit to the MNB’s Money Museum, which opened last year, the Presidential Advisor said.
