Neither facts nor tragedies can deter Brussels from its goal to overwhelm Europe with illegal mass migration. Continue reading
Slovenia has extended border controls on the Croatian and Hungarian borders for another six months, until December 21, Slovenian Interior Minister Boštjan Poklukar announced.
New threats have recently emerged which have a serious impact on public order and security both in Slovenia and in the European Union, the politician said, adding that they “stem from the conflict in the Middle East and the escalation of tensions between Iran and Israel.”
He noted that the security situation in the Middle East has only gotten worse recently and warned of security risks related to the war in Ukraine.
Slovenia has been the target of several cyber attacks in recent months,
he pointed out.
The Minister also stressed potential security risks related to the UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany, the upcoming Olympic Games Paris 2024, and illegal migration.
He reiterated his earlier statement that Slovenia was ready to launch joint border surveillance with Croatian and Italian police, with mixed patrols as an alternative to temporary internal Schengen border controls. The Slovenian politician emphasized that
border controls will continue to be carried out in a way that does not have a negative impact on travelers, the economy, and the population living at the border.
Slovenia reintroduced temporary border controls on October 21 last year, after Italy announced the same measure on its own section of the Slovenian border. These have since been extended several times by both countries. The Slovenian Interior Minister talked about an extension back in May, and said he had informed his Croatian and Hungarian counterparts, as well as the European Commission, of the decision.
