Inflation, rising employment shortage, and the increase of the minimum wage are pushing wages further up in the commercial/retail sector as well. Aldi, known for high salaries, hiked its wages by 8%, which is above the official rate of inflation. Spar has also announced salary increases.
From 2022, minimum wages have been increased by almost 20%: the minimum wage has risen to HUF 200,000 (EUR 549) and the minimum wage for skilled workers to HUF 260,000 (EUR 713). This certainly pushes up other wages too, in addition to sky-rocketing inflation.

Spar meanwhile announced they will provide their workers with salaries higher then the minimum wage. The German company has also said that it would invest some HUF 8.6 billion (EUR 23,6 million) into wage development in 2022.
