Last weekend, Hungary’s newest gastro-cultural community space was opened in a festive ceremony. Thanks to a private investment of over HUF 1.5 billion (EUR 3.7 million), Miskolc Soho has transformed a previously neglected parking lot into a vibrant community space where quality gastronomy, music, and sophisticated surroundings meet.
Miskolc’s new beating heart, the Miskolc Soho, is the city’s newest tourist attraction, catering to the needs of tourists looking for a cultured nightlife, reads the statement of Visit Miskolc. They added that the new gastro-cultural community space in the northeastern city of Hungary aims to provide a place for residents and visitors alike to meet and relax, whether for a light coffee, a glass of wine, or an evening concert experience.

Miskolc Soho offers a clean, safe, bright and welcoming place where gastronomic specialties and cultural events are the highlight.
In late evenings, the atmosphere of the space is transformed for the tranquility of the neighborhood, with quieter, more intimate conversations taking over while the scene is enhanced by light painting.

“When a foreigner or a friend arrives in Miskolc, they start in the city center. The strength of a city is the quality of its downtown,” said Dr. László Hajdú, the mastermind behind the idea and managing director of Expert Holocor Kft. “Two or three years ago, when we were finishing our fifth building block, my friend Zoltán Kovács (co-owner of the investment company – ed.) and I decided to do something with this area.”

He mentioned by name the founders who will serve the space with their restaurants: Ádám Lipták (Melon Café & Bar), Orsolya Farkas, Szilárd Szakács, László Vass (Rockabilly Chicken), Tamás Bárczi (A Leves és Burger, Fröccsterasz), who he said, as local patriots, want to stay in Miskolc and do something for the city.
The way entrepreneurs are working together and creating value for the community is an exemplary initiative and an example to follow in the future,
he stressed.

“An important mosaic is being put in place in the idea of what we consider to be essential for the coming years: the City of Bükk concept,” said Mayor József Tóth-Szántai at the opening ceremony, highlighting the importance of community building: “These are the mosaics from which we can rebuild a community in this city that we can be proud of and where we can feel comfortable. I think that this place where we are now will contribute to that in every way.”
The new community space bordered by Széchenyi, Szentpáli, Régiposta, and Kazinczy streets could become one of the most exciting meeting places in the city, further strengthening Miskolc’s role on the domestic tourism map, concludes the statement.
