Video libraries and streaming services are becoming more and more available in Hungary, with more than two million Hungarian adults having at least one streaming subscription last year, a significant 56 percent increase compared to 2021, according to GKID Research & Consulting, Direct One told MTI. The streaming provider expects the market to grow by around a third this year.
According to the statement, the growing popularity of the Direct Now app is shown by the fact that the number of subscribers using it has increased by around 28 percent in the past year, to about 200,000. One in seven customers use the app.
The data shows that subscribers are most interested in sporting events, with football matches and Formula 1 races topping the list.
The data also showed that users are keen to use the replay and restart options, so that they do not miss the latest episode of their series or can relive the best moments of sporting events. Almost seventy percent of Direct One subscribers regularly rewind to the beginning of a program or rewind certain scenes. Also, more than half of users prefer to watch content back a few days after a linear TV broadcast, whenever and wherever they have the time.
According to the survey, the continued growth in streaming subscriptions is a natural development, as VoD (Video on Demand) services, for example, allow users to choose which programs they want to watch, where and when.
