Located at Vigadó Square on the quay, the boat that is home to ‘Spoon The Boat’ is a restaurant that offers a view that everyone should experience at least once. From the boat you can see Gellért Hill, the Citadella, the Chain Bridge, Buda Castle, and the Fisherman’s Bastion, with the Danube River flowing below.
Spoon The Boat used to be a venue for events, but from April it has been expanded to include á la carte dining, with a menu offering both traditional Hungarian dishes and international cuisine.
The restaurant’s aim is to provide an immersive experience that will make its guests fall madly in love with Budapest.
The extravagant restaurant offers 1,600 square meters of space, with two indoor dining rooms, a winter garden, two panoramic terraces, three kitchens, and four bars. Each of the interior rooms is unique, offering a different experience. In recent months, the venue has undergone several renovations, including a refurbishment of the mechanical installations.
Spoon’s operators aim to keep guests coming back regularly and to share their experience with others, with the focus being mainly on foreign tourists. The emphasis is on the gastronomic offer, and the quality of the food is ensured by chef Árpád Kovács, who previously worked at the Michelin-starred Babel restaurant.
Dishes include for example, Hungarian goulash soup, but also hummus and pho soup, and from spring to autumn the terrace bar offers a special bar menu and snacks.
Formerly a cargo ship, Spoon The Boat has been operating as a successful event and restaurant boat since 2002, hosting numerous weddings, and was acquired by Eventrend Group in 2020, which has more than three decades of experience in operating cafés, restaurants, and hotels, as well as in event management. The company owns restaurants such as Gundel Restaurant, New York Café, and offers catering services for Groupama Aréna.
