Quality Pálinka Drinks Take Center Stage at Gyula Festival

Hungary Today 2025.05.31.

You can celebrate one of Hungary’s most unique gastronomic treasures in the magical setting of the Gyula Castle Gardens in southern Hungary. During the festival between June 6 and 8, visitors can taste premium quality pálinka (Hungarian fruit brandy, also known as ‘schnapps’) from all over the country, while renowned performers provide entertainment.

Gyula rightly bears the title of “pálinka capital,” as it is hosting this prestigious festival for the 25th time.

During the three-day event, the spotlight will be on pálinka, a noble Hungarikum and an integral part of Hungarian gastronomy and cultural heritage.

One of the highlights of the festival is the Brillante 2025 International Pálinka and Distillate Competition, where the best distilleries compete against each other. Another unique tradition is the bottling of the National Unity Pálinka, which is made from distillates from Hungary and beyond, using a different fruit each year.

Foodies can look forward to the “Farmer and Pálinka in the Kitchen” program, which includes cooking demonstrations and tastings. In the afternoon and evening, live music concerts and entertainment programs will round out the experience. Among the performers, we can find Bagossy Brothers Company, Valmar, and Hooligans as well. Several interesting programs also await those interested, with a charity cooking contest and a parade listed.

Visitors can purchase their tickets on site, with online tickets already sold out, according to the event’s official website.
