MTI-Hungary Today 2024.10.03.
Blowing the shofar is one of the traditions of the Jewish New Year’s celebration.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán sent a letter to the leaders of Hungarian Jewish organizations and members of the Jewish community in celebration of the Jewish New Year, as reported by Bertalan Havasi, head of the Prime Minister’s Press Office.

In his letter, Mr. Orbán noted that during this time, Jewish communities worldwide are wishing each other a happy and sweet New Year. He expressed pride in Hungary’s status as a peaceful and safe haven, where such sentiments can be expressed freely.

The Prime Minister emphasized the collective interest in preserving this peace and thanked the Hungarian Jewish community for its significant contributions to the country’s intellectual, economic, and cultural life over the past year.

He concluded his message with the heartfelt wish that everyone may experience a good year.

This aligns with a U.S. publication from last year affirming that Budapest remains a safe city for Jewish residents, highlighting a sense of security within the community. As Hungary Today reported about the article mentioned before, Viktor Orbán emphasized the importance of coexistence and mutual respect among different communities, reinforcing Hungary’s identity as a refuge for Jews. The Prime Minister’s letter reflects a commitment to ensure that Hungary continues to be a peaceful and supportive environment for all.
