Orbán to Scholz: Developing Hungary-Germany Ties Strategically Important

MTI-Hungary Today 2022.04.28.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has sent a letter to thank German Chancellor Olaf Scholz for congratulating him on winning the April 3 general election and called for further developing Hungarian-German ties, Orbán’s press chief said on Thursday.

“Europe today is facing challenges that make cooperation between [EU] member states on the basis of mutual respect more important than ever,” Bertalan Havasi quoted Orbán as saying in the letter.

The prime minister assured the German chancellor that he is ready to work with him, saying that he regards the development of relations between Hungary and Germany strategically important, Havasi said.

According to a statement posted on the German federal government’s website earlier, Scholz congratulated Orbán on his repeated success in the Hungarian parliamentary election and wished him good luck in performing future tasks.
