National Restaurant Week To Kick Off

MTI-Hungary Today 2023.02.24.

Michelin-recommended restaurants will also be joining the spring National Restaurant Week organized by Dining City, with more than 150 restaurants offering their specialties from March 9-19 . This year, for the first time, the event will run for 11 days, with 151 restaurants across the country offering fixed-price menus to those who book a table for the event, organizers told MTI on Wednesday.

A limited number of restaurants can be booked in advance on the program’s website. A new feature of the spring event is that several restaurants recommended by the Michelin Guide French restaurant guide and awarded with the Bib Gourmand will be among the participants.

Among them are the Rókusfalvy Fogadó in Etyek, the Kistücsök in Balatonszemes, Lokal47 in Kéthely, the Macok bistro in Eger, Avalon in Miskolc, and the Végállomás Bistro. The Bib Gourmand rating, which has been in existence since 1997, was created by the Michelin Guide to rank restaurants according to value for money. Bib Gourmand restaurants offer high quality cuisine at moderate prices.

For more than 10 years, National Restaurant Week has been a spring and autumn event for those who want to taste the latest offerings from the country’s best restaurants, discover their cuisines, and learn about gastronomic trends. Participating restaurants create three-course menus based on carefully selected ingredients, often including specialties, and offered at unique, fixed prices.

For several years now, restaurants have been presenting themselves in three categories. This year, the top category will offer three-course menus starting from six thousand forints (EUR 15.70), the premium category from eight thousand forints (EUR 21), and the exclusive category from ten thousand forints (EUR 26.20), including service charges. If you want to try a wider selection of restaurants, you can do so for an additional supplement, also tailored to the event.
