Hungary Today 2022.03.20.

Gergely Karácsony, the mayor of Budapest, shared on his Facebook page that three stations of metro line M3 in the city center will open to passengers in May.

The stations are Kálvin Square, Corvin district, and Semmelweis Clinics. According to Karácsony, the reconstruction of these is “nearing completion.”

Operational tests are ongoing, heat and smoke extraction systems are being tested, and the enclosures are beginning to take shape in their new forms. The Semmelweis Clinics station has successfully passed the official inspection process, and within days the Corvin quarter station will be tested,”

the mayor wrote in his post, adding that “The reconstruction of the track between Deák Ferenc Square – Nagyvárad Square has also been completed, which is a precondition for the start of traffic circulation. The interior of the stations’ passenger compartments is also being completed. Thank you to the staff of BKV Zrt. and the contractors for their work so far!”
