Attila Kovács, a master shoemaker from Miskolc, Northern Hungary, was the most successful shoemaker at the Inter-Schuh-Service (ISS) international trade show and competition in Wiesbaden, Germany. He won four gold medals for his four shoes and a grand prize in the men’s shoe category.
Forty-six master shoemakers from sixteen countries competed in all aspects of the competition with handmade footwear. The gold medal-winning footwear was all unique and, according to the information provided, handmade by the Hungarian master shoemaker, from the first designs, through the tailoring and sewing, to the final polishing.
According to the statement, the brand Attila Shoes, which belongs to the Miskolc-based shoemaker, is recognized worldwide and is consistently among the best in world competitions.
One of his most famous customers was Sir Roger Moore back in 2010, whose shoes were laser engraved with the James Bond 007 inscription.
When contacted by MTI, Attila Kovács said that the Attila Shoes brand is owned by Ortopán Kereskedelmi és Szolgáltató Kft. and that he hopes to increase sales of the brand by about 20 percent this year.

Most recently, the world-famous singer Rihanna wore a pair of gloves made in Hungary during the Super Bowl halftime show.
She wore the gloves courtesy of Pécs Gloves International (PGI), and several variations were made for the world star, but in the end, a fiery red glove made of soft lambskin was the winner. Moreover, this was not the first time Rihanna had worn the company’s product, further elevating the prestige of the Hungarian brand.
