As the portal of conservative weekly Magyar Hang learned from a Gmail address, the bomb threats were sent to the shopping centers in Budapest and several rural towns. The affected buildings had to be evacuated on Tuesday afternoon. A shopping center employee, who wished to remain anonymous, told the newspaper that the email was sent from a fictitious Hungarian name.

“There is a bomb in the building. I can’t live in a country that sponsors the terrorist Putin and puts cheap gas above human life,” was written in the email sent to several Hungarian shopping centers.
As we also reported, the nationwide bomb threats have paralyzed shopping malls across the country, and on Tuesday the Budapest Police (BRFK) ordered an investigation. In Budapest, Arena Plaza, MOM Park, and Mammut were among those affected by an alert. In Miskolc, the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County Central Hospital, the MÁV Railway Register Office in the pedestrian zone, Miskolc Plaza, and the Szinvapark shopping center also received bomb threats. According to information from Magyar Hang, Debrecen was also affected by a threatening message. However, when asked by the newspaper, the ORFK stated that the National Police Criminal Investigation Office was already investigating an unknown perpetrator, but “in consideration of the interest of the investigation, the police will not provide any further information about the proceedings.”

So we do not know yet whether it is one or more perpetrators, whether bombs have been found in one of the threatened shopping centers, or the threats were unfounded. Magyar Hang has also contacted the press department of the railroad company MÁV but has not yet received a response.
