214 patients died of Covid over the past 72 hours, while 17,834 new coronavirus infections were registered in Hungary, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Monday.
The number of active infections has risen to 68,586, while hospitals are treating 3,980 Covid patients, 434 of whom need respiratory assistance.
Since the first outbreak, the number of fatalities has risen to 31,398, while 909,998 infections have been registered. Fully 810,014 people have made a recovery.
So far 5,974,514 people have received a first jab, while 5,754,475 have been fully vaccinated. Fully 1,369,000 Hungarians have received a booster jab.
There are 25,467 people in official quarantine, while 7,628,027 tests have been officially carried out.
The government announced last week that employers were being given the right to require vaccination against Covid-19 as a precondition of employment in order to ensure workers’ safety. The state, as an employer, will also apply the measure, and mayors will have the right to introduce the requirement at local councils. Mask-wearing has also been made mandatory on public transport again from Nov. 1, and a visitor ban is also being introduced at hospitals.
