Seventy-four patients died of Covid over the past 24 hours, while 2,595 new coronavirus infections were registered in Hungary, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Wednesday.
The number of active infections has risen to 46,408, while hospitals are treating 3,172 Covid patients, 350 of whom need respiratory assistance.
Since the first outbreak, 879,092 infections have been registered, while fatalities have risen to 30,994. Fully 801,690 people have made a recovery.
So far 5,958,890 people have received a first jab, while 5,740,424 have been fully vaccinated. Fully 1,243,000 Hungarians have received a booster jab.
There are 19,192 people in official quarantine, while 7,477,324 tests have been officially carried out.
The government announced last week that employers were being given the right to require vaccination against Covid-19 as a precondition of employment in order to ensure workers’ safety. The state, as an employer, will also apply the measure, and mayors will have the right to introduce the requirement at local councils. Mask-wearing has also been made mandatory on public transport again from Nov. 1, and a visitor ban is also being introduced at hospitals.
