Coronavirus: 39 Fatalities, Almost 2,000 New Infections Registered in Hungary

Thirty-nine patients died of Covid over the past 24 hours, while 1,867 new coronavirus infections were registered in Hungary, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Tuesday.

The number of active infections has risen to 44,781, while hospitals are treating 2,839 Covid patients, 312 of whom need respiratory assistance.

Since the first outbreak, 876,497 infections have been registered, while fatalities have risen to 30,920. Fully 800,796 people have made a recovery.

So far 5,955,250 people have received a first jab, while 5,736,452 have been fully vaccinated. Fully 1,221,000 Hungarians have received a booster jab.

There are 17,549 people in official quarantine, while 7,464,487 tests have been officially carried out.

The government announced last week that employers were being given the right to require vaccination against Covid-19 as a precondition of employment in order to ensure workers’ safety. The state, as an employer, will also apply the measure, and mayors will have the right to introduce the requirement at local councils. Mask-wearing has also been made mandatory on public transport again from Nov. 1, and a visitor ban is also being introduced at hospitals.
