Coronavirus: 304 Fatalities, More Than 20,000 New Cases Registered Over the Weekend

304 patients died of Covid over the past 72 hours, while 21,060 new coronavirus infections were registered in Hungary, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Monday.

The number of active infections has risen to 102,898, while hospitals are treating 5,286  Covid patients, 519 of whom need respiratory assistance.

Since the first outbreak, the number of fatalities has risen to 32,171, while 960,844  infections have been registered. Fully 825,775 people have made a recovery.

So far 5,999,516 people have received a first jab, while 5,774,158 have been fully vaccinated. Fully 1,594,000 Hungarians have received a booster jab.

There are 42,931 people in official quarantine, while 7,854,966 tests have been officially carried out.

The government announced last week that employers were being given the right to require vaccination against Covid-19 as a precondition of employment in order to ensure workers’ safety. The state, as an employer, will also apply the measure, and mayors will have the right to introduce the requirement at local councils. Mask-wearing has also been made mandatory on public transport again from Nov. 1, and a visitor ban is also being introduced at hospitals.
