152 patients died of Covid over the weekend, while 11,211 new coronavirus infections were registered in Hungary, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Monday.

The number of active infections has risen to 43,542, while hospitals are treating 2,605 Covid patients, 299 of whom need respiratory assistance.

Since the first outbreak, 874,630 infections have been registered, while fatalities have risen to 30,881. Fully 800,207 people have made a recovery.

So far 5,955,207 people have received a first jab, while 5,736,378 have been fully vaccinated. Fully 1,221,000 Hungarians have received a booster jab.

There are 20,156 people in official quarantine, while 7,452,355 tests have been officially carried out.

The government announced last week that employers were being given the right to require vaccination against Covid-19 as a precondition of employment in order to ensure workers’ safety. The state, as an employer, will also apply the measure, and mayors will have the right to introduce the requirement at local councils. Mask-wearing has also been made mandatory on public transport again from Nov. 1, and a visitor ban is also being introduced at hospitals.
