BMW has a long-term commitment to Debrecen and therefore wants to work with highly qualified professionals, he added, noting that they are in talks with several university faculties, but this is just the beginning, and he hopes the cooperation will extend to research.

Hans-Peter Kemser recalled that the Debrecen Vocational Training Center was contacted for cooperation in 2019, as a result of which

100 people will start their apprenticeship at BMW in September as part of the dual training program, with the number increasing to 300 in the coming years.

The CEO described the signing of the cooperation agreement as an important milestone.

Zoltán Szilvássy, Rector of the University, said that the institution has the widest range of education in Hungary, so it has a lot to offer in the field of education, training, and innovation.

László Papp (Fidesz-KDNP), Mayor of Debrecen, said that “every day the success story of Debrecen is being written.”

The mayor expressed his conviction that if the city has two strong allies like the university and BMW, it will succeed in keeping talented young people there. “Debrecen is destined for success” in this way, he added.
