On the morning of Thursday, December 7, the capital was covered in snow. However,  the area of snowfall and rain will gradually decrease. Daytime highs will be between 0 and +5 degrees. By late evening, temperatures will generally fall to between -6 and +2 degrees.

The Municipal Maintenance Company has been cleaning the roads over the past 24 hours. During the night, 61 snowplows cleared the snow from the road networks, as well as spread salt to prevent the roads from freezing.

Despite heavy snowfall, Liszt Ferenc International Airport is operating smoothly, both runways are open, and no restrictions have been imposed. Their “snow fleet” is continuously clearing the runways, taxiways, and apron. Minor delays are expected throughout the day due to de-icing of the airplanes, they added.

The weather conditions are also giving the fire brigades a lot of work: until Thursday 10:30 AM, around three hundred fire brigades were called out to deal with damage, mainly to fallen trees and fallen branches. Firefighters continue to work to clear the debris.
