Hungary Today 2024.08.09.

The area around the Castle Garden Bazaar will soon be filled with delicacies, concerts and gastronomic discussions, as one of Hungary’s largest gastronomic festivals, the Street of Hungarian Flavors, will take place again from August 18 to 20, Magyar Nemzet reports.

The festival is primarily a Hungarian gastronomy exhibition and fair, but it also aims to showcase the colorful flavors and gastronomic culture of the Carpathian Basin. For the first time, you can taste this year’s cake of Hungary and St. Stephen’s bread here.

The most important aim of the event is to showcase the fascinating Hungarian gastronomic culture and how Hungarian cuisine can combine traditional dishes of the Carpathian Basin with modern, exciting dishes,”

said Antal Novotny, the main organizer of the Street of Hungarian Flavors.

St. Stephen’s Day bread competition was announced again this year, with almost 100 products entered in three categories. Balmaz-Sütöde Kft. from Balmazújváros was the winner with its Grandfather’s Bread with Potatoes, but it also won the Innovative Breads category with its jalapeno, cheddar cheese and wild sausage bread.

Hungarian gastronomic culture is perhaps the richest in the world when it comes to cooking stews in a cauldron over a fire. The number of different types, varieties and ingredients used in the preparation of this technique is indescribable.
