Budafok Sparkling Wine Festival Awaits Guests with Gastronomic Teasers

The organizers of the Budafok Sparkling Wine and Wine Festival are inviting visitors to a three-day celebration of wine, sparkling wine, gastronomy, culture and social experiences between September 5 and 7.

Interested parties can visit locations such as the Törley sparkling wine Factory, the Sauska Winery, the Katona Wine House, and the Záborszky Mansion. The opening event of the festival will be the traditional blessing of the grapes.

The Budafok Sparkling Wine and Wine Festival is not only about the passion for wine and sparkling wine, but also a tribute to all those communities that have worked for generations to ensure that Budafok (a southern district of the capital) can rightfully bear the title of Budapest’s Wine District.

The love of wine, sparkling wine, gastronomy, and culture has been woven into the everyday life of Budafok-Tétény for centuries.

The tradition dating back to Roman times, the wine trade that flourished during the monarchy and the unique cellar system of more than 100 kilometers all contribute to the special character of the district.

Visitors of the three-day program series can also attend numerous concerts, including performances by the Dohnányi Big Band and the Kolompos Orchestra. The organizers also expect Greek, Croatian, Ukrainian and Roma ethnic programs, a stilt street variety show, fairy tale and puppet shows, as well as other family and children’s programs and games. As highlighted, the agreement between Tokaj and Budafok-Tétény will be signed on the closing day of the festival, the aim of which is to support the work of winemakers and to encourage grape growing, winemaking, wine tourism, and cultured wine consumption.
