Another Milestone Reached at BMW’s Debrecen Plant

Hungary Today 2024.03.19.

The health center at the BMW Group’s Debrecen plant has moved to its final location, where it has been operating since the groundbreaking ceremony in June 2022. The German company had previously provided this service in a container building in the heart of the city, although it went far beyond the occupational health screening tests required by law, reported Világgazdaság.

In the 700 square meter facility, which will also provide primary care and emergency services, BMW employees will be able to participate in screening and other preventive programs, as well as receive health advice. Previously organized screening tests (melanoma, lung screening and allergy tests) have helped to identify various health problems in good time.

The center also offers physiotherapy treatments for individuals and groups. The service portfolio of the center will be further expanded in the future. The health center currently offers three doctors, three assistants and a dietician trainee to support employees. Hans-Peter Kemser, President and CEO of BMW Group Factory Debrecen, said that all their centers worldwide have the infrastructure and staffing to help employees stay healthy day in, day out.

The BMW Group is building a complete vehicle factory in Debrecen on an area of more than 400 hectares, with a press shop, body shop, paint shop, assembly plant and battery module assembly.

The German manufacturer is investing more than EUR 2 billion (HUF 790 billion) in the site.

Around 150,000 cars will be built here every year, and from 2025 it will be exclusively electric, when the first Neue Klasse model will arrive. The company already has more than 1,000 employees. Prospective employees are being enticed with classic benefits and discounted cars.
