The Miskolctapolca Ancient Park has been renovated with almost 960 million forints (EUR 2.5 M), the Miskolc municipality announced. Miskolctapolca, in northeastern Hungary, is one of the most popular tourist towns of Hungary.
According to the statement, the park in the vicinity of the Cave Baths, the footpaths, utilities, and street lighting have been updated, and about 30,000 plants have been planted in the area. In addition, miniature bronze and wooden play statues have been installed.
During the project, the park’s bridges were renovated to preserve the squirrel statues, and three small and three large pavilions were built to serve as a sales and service area.
Almost 2,500 cubic meters of silt was removed from the boating lake, where two new boats and three new water bikes await visitors.
The lake had to be cleared of the silt because the mud layer had reached a thickness of 80-100 centimeters in places.
As described, the area had not seen any major development for decades until last year, when complex reconstruction work began. Although the works have just been completed, there was great demand for the reconstructed area already in its “semi-finished” state.
