NATO Delegation Praises Multi-National Task Force Deployed in Hungary

An international delegation of the NATO Allied Land Command visited the Hungarian and international (Italian, Croatian and American) forces of the NATO Enhanced Vigilance Activity Battle Group (eVA BG HUN) deployed in Hungary between 17 and 21 July, reports Honvédelem.hu.

The delegation, led by Colonel Konstantinos Pappas (NATO LANDCOM, Capabilities and Force Integration Directorate General), received a general briefing on the current situation, location, activities, training events conducted and planned, host nation support and supply and future plans of the eVA Battle Group.

The group visited the Hungarian Defense Forces’ Sodró László 102nd Chemical Warfare Regiment, where they were introduced to the reconnaissance and extraction capabilities of the ABV platoon assigned to the multinational battle group and the specialized military equipment they use.

The delegation also visited the Central European Multi-National Division Command (HQ MND-C), where they were able to learn about the Division Command’s training events – in particular the RSOM (Reception, Staging, Onward Movement) exercises and the milestones on the road to full operational capability.

At the Dánielfy Tibor 205th Air Defence Missile Regiment, the delegation was shown the air defence missile section of the multinational battle group, as well as the air defence module’s military and training equipment.

The NATO group toured the barracks of the Klapka György 1st Armored Brigade, where the eVA BG headquarters is located, visiting the eVA BG’s main body and the brigade’s assigned forces, and then had a static tour of the 21st century defense equipment acquired under the Defense and Force Development Program.

On the last day of the visit, in Hódmezővásárhely, eastern Hungary, Colonel Ádám Dienes, Deputy Commander of the 30th Armored Infantry Brigade, outlined the structure of the unit and its main tasks. Afterwards, the delegation had a look at the armament and military equipment regularly used by the military organization, including the Lynx infantry fighting vehicle.

At the end of the visit, the head of the delegation praised the current state of the NATO High Vigilance Multi-National Task Force deployed in Hungary.
