CPAC – Rick Santorum: Conservatives Failing to Follow Up on Their Success in America

Dániel Deme 2023.05.05.

Left-wing ideology aims to “crush the family”, but in Hungary they are fighting against this evil force and “fighting for the souls of children”, former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum said on Friday at the closing day of the CPAC conference in Budapest.

American conservative leaders who are running away from the fight today could learn a lot from Hungary, he said in the event’s More Children, Less War session.
Santorum said that in the United States they are now facing

schools trying to take children away from their parents, hiding information from them and allowing children to make decisions that will determine their lives.

According to the politician, it is fundamental to left-wing ideology to want the state to exert control over the education of children because “people on the left do not have enough children thanks to abortion and life-denying attitudes”. Apart from a few conservative dissenters, the majority are trying to force these ideals on our children, he added, noting that this is what parents faced during the closures due to the coronavirus epidemic when their children stayed at home. While many have begun to fight back, they are losing ground in America, with conservative forces last year, for example, finally failing to ride their success on abortion and the movement has now retreated again.

In Hungary, on the other hand, leaders are not cooperating in crushing families and corrupting children, they are fighting for the souls of children and winning,”

said Rick Santorum.

Kevin Roberts, President of the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank in Washington, DC, stressed in his speech the need to fight together against the ideology of the new global regime, the woke ideology, which “castrates the next generation of men, crushing them physically and spiritually”. Woke is “obsessed with the idea that Western culture and the family itself is oppressive, that our law is based on keeping the rich rich rich and the powerful powerful powerful”, it proclaims that religion is superficial and nations are superfluous. Its aim is to replace the family and the whole of Western culture, exactly as Karl Marx put it in the Communist Manifesto.
Roberts pointed out that Hungary is a historic nation and also places great emphasis on preserving its history, something not all nations are capable of doing. What makes the country truly unique, he said, is the way in which Hungary is standing up to the forces of globalization, which “would devour the self-determination of nations and replace it with rules imposed by distant, unelected bureaucrats in Brussels”. The speaker said it was important that Hungary was made a “woke-free zone”.
