Viktor Orbán will reportedly travel to Doha next week to watch the semi-finals and final of the ongoing FIFA World Cup, Abdulla bin Nasser Al-Dosari, Qatar’s Ambassador to Budapest, announced on Thursday, as reported by Magyar Hang.
To mark Qatar’s national day, the Embassy of Qatar held an event at the Marriott Hotel. The guest of honor at the event was the Minister heading the Prime Minister’s Office, Gergely Gulyás, who also delivered a short speech.
There have already been suggestions in the past that the Prime Minister might visit the World Cup in Qatar. Earlier, in response to an inquiry by 24.hu, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief, said that “the Prime Minister will attend the World Cup as an official guest, invited by FIFA, time permitting.”
One of the iconic venues of the World Cup in Qatar is the 974 Stadium, named after the fact that it is made up of 974 containers, and the number is also the international calling code of Qatar. Built with sustainability in mind, the stadium can be completely dismantled and it is planned that its various components will be used elsewhere after overhaul and refurbishment.
The semi-finals of the World Cup in Qatar will start on December 13, with the bronze medal match on December 17, and the final on Sunday December 18. The next matches, the quarter finals, are on the schedule today with Croatia playing Brazil in the afternoon and Argentina taking on the Netherlands in the evening.
