With a program extended by one day, more than thirty new exhibitors, and two hundred dishes, the MBH Bank Gourmet Festival awaits visitors this year between May 22 and 25 in Millenáris Park, in Budapest, Turizmus.com reports.
The theme of this year’s event will be “favorites,” hence the country’s best culinary professionals will bring their favorite ingredients, producers, dishes, and their own personal stories with them. According to the organizers, nearly 100 restaurants, pastry shops, and other culinary businesses will offer festival menus at the venue.
Gourmet’s mission is to provide an authentic snapshot of the country’s current gastronomy, which changes and evolves from year to year, and our offerings evolve accordingly.
(…) It was not difficult this year either, as countless exciting places have opened recently, many of which will also be at the festival,” said Richárd Nemes, the festival’s main organizer.
Among others,
BiBo Budapest, designed by Dani García, Bilanx, representing the creative fine bistro trend, Jenő Rácz’s soon-to-be-opened restaurant on Lake Balaton, Ypsilon, Fiktív, which specializes in food and wine pairings, Teyföl from Szentendre, as well as the Michelin-starred Essencia and Szaletly, known for its modern Hungarian dishes, will also be back at the festival.
Among the increasingly popular Asian cuisine representatives, Ramenka, Quí, Sáo, Tokio, and Arquitecto Pitpit’s Buda sister restaurant, Monokini Kantin, with chef Ádám Garai, will be making their festival debut.
Leila’s will bring authentic Lebanese cuisine, while Cvekedli Tésztabár from Nyíregyháza (eastern Hungary) will serve classic pasta dishes. Petrol Barbeque and Tuning Burger will also be there, along with Szatmár Dry Cured, founded by chef Szilárd Tóth, one of this year’s Gourmet ambassadors, who will be serving matured meats. Original Wagyu will be serving dishes made from Japanese beef, Pilpel Hungary will be offering exotic fruit tastings, BOCCA gourmet stories will be serving international delicacies, while the dessert selection will be enhanced by Debrecen-based Jardin, chocoMe, known for its bean-to-bar concept, and Gelateria Pomo d’Oro.
There will be new wineries, the beer selection will be expanded thanks to Zenta Kraft, but the non-alcoholic trend is also developing: Mayer premium syrups will be on display; one of Gourmet’s ambassadors this year, Fruzsina Farkas, The Green Sommelier, will be making fermented drinks, and HERZ Coffee Roasters will be providing the coffee.
The menu will once again feature wallet-friendly dishes costing no more than 2,500 forints.
From Friday afternoon to Sunday evening, the Gourmet Academy welcomes those who want to learn and have fun, who can also taste the results of the free lectures and workshops. Among others, renowned chefs such as István Akács (Pajta, 1 Michelin star), Dávid Rózsa (1910 Gourmet by Hausers, Switzerland, 1 Michelin star), Szilárd Tóth (SALT, 1 Michelin star), István Pesti (Platán, 2 Michelin stars) will be present. As part of a special program, you can also meet Dani García, one of Spain’s most famous chefs, who previously earned 3 Michelin stars for his restaurant in Marbella.
On May 25, Children’s Day, Beatrix Harrer-Abosi, Gianni Annoni, and one of this year’s Gourmet ambassadors, Szabi, the Baker (Szabolcs Szabadfi), will hold workshops for children. The program will conclude with Judit Stahl’s Flódni’s improvisational gastro theater with well-known actors. On this day, those under 18 can enter Gourmet Festival for free, while families can enjoy a children’s entertainment program, a playground, and dozens of pastry shops with free surprises.
