Puskás is the title of a new Hungarian feature film series about the world-famous Hungarian footballer. The producer is Péter Herman (Pierre), who left RTL Hungary last November due to restructuring, reports Index.
According to a decision on December 11, 2023, Inani Production won a HUF 90 million (EUR 235,745) script development state grant from the National Film Institute’s (NFI) Television Jury for the production of the series Puskás.
As the official information states, the series will be written by István Tasnádi, Bálint Hegedűs, and Márton Bárány and directed by Dániel Kovács.
The producer is Péter Herman (Pierre), who announced last November that he was leaving RTL Hungary (Hungarian commercial television channel) after 25 years.
The director of the series, Dániel Kovács, has also worked on RTL shows before. There is no information yet on which channel or platform Puskás will be shown.
As is known, a film about Ferenc Puskás has been under discussion for years. The idea originally came from producer Andy Vajna, who wanted to see the film on the big screen in his lifetime and started organizing it in 2017, but he died two years later.
The first version of the script has been completed and filming could start in 2024. If all goes according to plan, the film could be released in 2027.
