The hope for Europe to become a safe and developing continent again would be to create a new, right-wing majority in the European Parliament after the 2024 elections, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó underlined in Budapest, after receiving Martin Helme, President of the Conservative People’s Party in Estonia.
At a joint press conference, Péter Szijjártó said that the European Union is in deep trouble and the continent is facing the most serious economic and security challenges ever. Moreover, these challenges are compounded by the fact that the wrong responses to the difficulties are coming from Brussels.
“The liberal mainstream, which is trying to dominate everything in Europe, wants to create a kind of United States of Europe by weakening the EU Member States to the limit (…)
Federalization, the attack on families, and the push for migration are all seriously weakening the European Union, creating parallel societies and virtually destroying our competitiveness,”
he warned.
Szijjártó said that Hungary wants a strong EU, but this is only possible if the Member States are strong enough. This requires that nations hold on to their traditions, their history, and the freedom to practice their religion.
If Member States are emptied and weakened, they can only become a weak European integration.
Moreover, the crises of the last few years have shown that the Brussels institutions have been unable to deal with difficult situations. What really worked were national solutions and solutions based on intergovernmental cooperation between countries,” he pointed out.
He went on to say that the community can be strong if it helps Member States to become stronger, does not destroy the competitiveness of national economies, gives respect to families, and does not seek to override the laws of nature. “And now we need to move fast, because the European Union is weakening fast and Brussels is expanding its power fast.
We must stop federalization, we must stop gender propaganda, and we must stop the influx of migrants,”
he concluded.
The foreign minister emphasized that this requires cooperation between right-wing, patriotic, nationalist, conservative, Christian Democrat parties, that must do well in the next European elections.
“That is why we are also cheering for the Estonian Conservative People’s Party, which came second in Estonia in the last elections,” he said, thanking the party for its constant support for Hungary’s sovereignty in recent years. “We sincerely hope that after next year’s European elections we will be able to build a new right-wing majority in the European Parliament, because this is the hope for Europe to become a safe and developing continent again,” he summarized.
