The announcement of the results of the supplementary admissions on Monday marked the end of the most successful higher education admission process in the past 10 years, the Ministry of Culture and Innovation’s State Secretary said in a video posted on his Facebook page Monday.
According to Balázs Hankó, 106,691 people have been admitted to a “renewed, competitive, and attractive Hungarian higher education.” He added that a 28 percent increase in the number of applicants was already reported at the end of July.
Thanks to the fact that twice as many students were admitted to universities in this year’s additional admissions compared to last year, 33 percent more students will start their studies in September,”
he added.
Hankó stressed that it is unique in Europe that almost eight out of ten students will be able to start their studies with a state scholarship from September this year. He noted it was also gratifying that an exceptionally large number of students had applied to study teaching, as well as mathematics, science, engineering, and computer science.
He added that the average score was increased by six points compared to last year, “meaning that the points are more valuable in terms of access to Hungarian higher education.”
In short, it is good to be a Hungarian university student today,”
the State Secretary concluded in his video.
