In engineering, the increase was 44 percent, in agriculture 28 percent and in teacher training 67 percent.
Balázs Hankó said that the government’s aim is to make it possible to obtain a degree while working, as a degree means a one-and-a-half times higher salary on average. He pointed out that
this year more than 20,000 students over 30 years of age were admitted, an 84% increase in the number of people who want to study while working.
Students received a direct notification by SMS from 8 p.m. on Wednesday, and they could also find out about the scores on university admissions website Felvi.hu and follow the results on Facebook.
This year, the Ministry of Culture and Innovation, the Education Office and National Conference of University Student Councils organized the so-called “Pont ott” party, where students could wait together for the thresholds, in the Budapest Park. On the site, several higher education institutions and the Education Office hosted an information desk. In addition to the capital city, there were also events waiting for the results in several rural cities.
Students can score a maximum of 500 points in the admission process, with the most popular courses typically requiring a score above 400.
At the National University of Public Service in Budapest, almost 2,300 first-year students will start their studies in the new academic year in September, more than 300 more than last year, the institution told MTI.
