The Liszt Ferenc International Airport in Budapest has been voted the best European airport for passengers with 15-25 million passengers, the Airports Council International (ACI) announced.
Every year, the ACI assesses the quality of service at 400 international airports worldwide by assessing more than 30 performance indicators. For Budapest, overall passenger satisfaction was above four on a scale of five throughout the year, and significantly higher than in the busiest year of 2019, the airport operator of Budapest Airport told Hungarian news agency MTI.
The value of the developments carried out by the operator in the past four years reached 90 billion forints by the end of 2022, and will exceed 100 billion forints by the spring of 2023. The developments include capacity expansion, infrastructure, sustainability, and other investments to enhance the passenger experience.
Budapest Airport won the Skytrax Best Airport in Eastern Europe award for the ninth time in a row last year, and the recent developments have also led to the award of the Family Friendly Place certification mark. Last year, the cargo business also received prestigious recognition when it won the Air Cargo News Awards Cargo Airport of the Year, beating Singapore, Brussels, and Liège.
