Seven Hungarian designers from the international mentoring program of the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency (HFDA) and the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI) presented their work at this year’s Milan Fashion Week with great success. Brands Abodi, Cukovy, Kata Szegedi, Unreal Industries, Pinetime Clothing, THEFOUR, and Zsigmond, all from Hungary, presented their autumn-winter 2023/2024 collections at the Milano Fashion Week, one of the four biggest fashion weeks.
According to the HFDA, the Hungarian shows were positively received by the international public, with numerous compliments from experts and the international press. This was the ninth time that Hungarian designers had the opportunity to present their work to an international audience at Milan Fashion Week.
As part of the mentoring program, designers from Unreal Industries, Pinetime Clothing, and Zsigmond presented their latest creations in the Fashion Hub, a space dedicated to supporting emerging brands and designers, at the Palazzo dei Giureconsulti. Brands Abodi, Cukovy, Kata Szegedi, and THEFOUR presented their latest pieces on the catwalk at the Budapest Select collective fashion show, one of the event’s flagship venues.
As highlighted in the press release,
the showcase is a sign of the professional development of the Hungarian brands that have been mentored and are ready for the international market, as well as a testament to the growing interest in the Budapest Select umbrella brand that brings them together.
The HFDA added that the interest in Hungarian brands was also evident at several venues during Milan Fashion Week. A number of buyers, including Tessabit and Sapzio 38 showroom, visited the Fashion Hub and the Budapest Select collective show, with the latter attended by nearly 400 people, and the event was also followed by the public via live online streaming. The show was attended by fashion journalists from Vogue International, Vanity Fair, and Elle Italia, as well as Sara Maino, founding director of Vogue Talents. Carlo Capasa, President of the CNMI, was backstage to view the Hungarian-designed pieces.
“Season after season, we see how intensively international appearances develop the work of Hungarian designers. Not only do the brands receive inspiration and professional feedback, but these events also have a major sales-promoting role,” Zsófia Jakab, CEO of HFDA, was quoted as saying in the press release.
According to Anita Forintos-Szűcs, Deputy General Manager of HFDA, there is a growing interest in the diversity and creativity of Hungarian fashion. The international recognition is proven by the fact that this time the Budapest Select collective show was held at one of the most prominent venues of the fashion week in Milan, where the most renowned global brands such as Armani and Moschino have also been presented.
