Budapest Central European Fashion Week Coming with a New Concept

MTI-Hungary Today 2023.01.20.

The Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency (MDDÜ) will organize the Budapest Central European Fashion Week (BCEFW) with a new concept between February 2-6 in Budapest, at four venues, the MDDÜ informed MTI on Thursday.

According to the statement, this time, the event which will showcase the autumn-winter 2023/24 collections, will feature designers in the form of creative presentations. This will give brands the opportunity to further assert their own character traits through unique and innovative concepts, and thus better attract the attention of the industry and the public.

In addition to the presentations of 15 Hungarian, two Polish and two Slovak fashion brands, there will be several side events and the BCEFW pop-up store will open on Fashion Street in central Budapest.

The designers’ presentations will take place in four venues: the National Dance Theater, the Hungarian National Museum, the Ethnographic Museum, and the Eötvös Loránd University Library and Archives.

Zsófia Jakab, CEO of the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency, said that the change of concept is a strategic move to organize the presentations at iconic locations in the capital this year. According to her, several successful international examples show that such a creative event can stimulate interest in a given location.

For international journalists and influencers with an extensive number of followers, a hospitality tour will be organized to showcase the city’s beauty and Hungarian gastronomy.

“Our aim is to strengthen Budapest’s role as a regional tourist destination and the country’s image in general, not only through the creativity of the designers but also through the diversity of the venues,” explained Jakab.

Twice a year the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency organizes the Budapest Central European Fashion Week, one of the most important fashion events in the Central European region. The main objective of the event is to integrate the Hungarian fashion and design industry into the international professional circulatory system, and in the longer term, to turn Budapest into a regional center, thereby strengthening the country’s image.

The Budapest Central European Fashion Week, organized for the 10th time last August, was a huge success.

This February, representatives of leading international media such as Italian, Czech and Ukrainian Vogue, British Forbes and American and Serbian Elle magazines will participate in the event, the press release says.

The latest Budapest Central European Fashion Week was held last year, from August 29 to September 4, in close collaboration with the Ukrainian Fashion Week, and concluded with a two day fashion show by seven Ukrainian brands, alongside 15 Hungarian and two Polish designers at the Museum of Fine Arts.
