123 patients died of Covid over the past 24 hours, while 4,588 new coronavirus infections were registered in Hungary, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Tuesday.

The number of active infections has risen to 71,799, while hospitals are treating 4,522  Covid patients, 452 of whom need respiratory assistance.

Since the first outbreak, the number of fatalities has risen to 31,521, while 914,586 infections have been registered. Fully 811,266 people have made a recovery.

So far 5,977,908 people have received a first jab, while 5,757,501 have been fully vaccinated. Fully 1,397,000 Hungarians have received a booster jab.

There are 27,751 people in official quarantine, while 7,647,898 tests have been officially carried out.

The government announced last week that employers were being given the right to require vaccination against Covid-19 as a precondition of employment in order to ensure workers’ safety. The state, as an employer, will also apply the measure, and mayors will have the right to introduce the requirement at local councils. Mask-wearing has also been made mandatory on public transport again from Nov. 1, and a visitor ban is also being introduced at hospitals.
