In February, Gellért Jászai, Chairman of Board of the 4iG Group, met with Tim Hughes, Vice President of Global Business and Government Affairs at US space company SpaceX.
Following the meeting in Mar-a-Lago, Florida in December, 4iG continued discussions with SpaceX on
potential collaborations and partnership opportunities in space technologies, launch services, and Starlink solutions,”
Gellért Jászai posted on LinkedIn.
In addition to Gellért Jászai and Tim Hughes, the recent meeting in Washington was attended by Ambassador Szabolcs Takács and the 4iG Space and Defense Technologies team.
The expansion of 4iG in the space sector has been a high priority of the Budapest-based company in recent times, and so far, it seems that the two companies are preparing for a major collaboration. In December 2024, Gellért Jászai attended the meeting between Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Donald Trump, Elon Musk (Head of the Department of Government Efficiency since 2025, and founding CEO of SpaceX), and Michael Waltz (US National Security Advisor since 2025) in Florida. A key point of the meeting was the presentation of the 4iG Group’s HUSAT satellite program, the first privately initiated and funded program in Eastern and Central Europe to develop satellite communications and Earth observation capabilities.
In the framework of the project, the 4iG Group and Remred, a Hungarian space engineering company, started the construction of a space technology manufacturing center in Martonvásár (near Budapest).
Here, low Earth orbit satellites with a maximum mass of 400 kg will be produced from 2026.
The parties also touched on artificial intelligence development and possible cooperation in the Hungarian-American commercial and technological fields. SpaceX’s launch services and other commercial and technological partnership opportunities were also discussed at the time.
4iG also recently announced a partnership with Houston-based space infrastructure developer Axiom Space. Their main aim is to explore and develop joint space industry cooperation opportunities, including in the area of orbital data center (ODC) services. The parties will also set up a joint working group to explore areas for development along the synergies between the two companies.
