The Dárdai dynasty in Hungarian football continues to grow: after Márton and Palkó, the youngest son of Hertha legend Pál Dárdai, Bence, will now also play for the Hungarian national team. The 19-year-old midfielder from Wolfsburg has opted for a change following a meeting with Hungarian national team coach, Marco Rossi. FIFA approved the request on Friday, reports mlsz.hu, the official website of the Hungarian Football Association (MLSZ).
Bence Dárdai previously played for the German national youth teams and even became European champion with the U17 team in 2021. Marco Rossi and his coaching staff have been following the young talent’s career closely for some time: “We have known for a long time what potential he has,” said the coach.
However, Bence Dárdai was given time to establish himself in Wolfsburg and to make this “difficult and very responsible decision” calmly,
Rossi explained.

Rossi sees Bence Dárdai as a versatile midfielder who can play both as an “eight” and a “six.” “He has excellent vision on the pitch, is very skilled with both feet and is a very technical, calm, and level-headed football player,” said the coach.
Bence Dárdai is looking forward to the new challenge:
I am very happy that I will be playing for the Hungarian national team in the future,”
he told MLSZ.
He is also looking forward to working with the team and wants to help “as much as possible right from the start.” He is particularly looking forward to the atmosphere at Puskás Aréna in Budapest, which his brothers have already told him a lot about.
It remains to be seen whether Dárdai will debut as a Hungarian national team player in the Nations League match against Türkiye in March. Rossi will announce his squad on March 11.
