Genoa, Italy

Wizz Air is launching four new flights thanks to the expansion of its Budapest fleet: from October, direct flights will be available to Genoa (Italy), Girona (Spain), Marrakesh (Morocco) and from December to Memmingen (Germany), the airline announced.

In addition, Wizz Air will increase its frequencies on several popular routes, including

  • Tel Aviv,
  • Istanbul,
  • Milan,
  • Berlin,
  • Madrid,
  • Athens
  • and Glasgow.

The expansion will increase the airline’s capacity in Budapest by more than 30 percent in the winter season compared to the same period last year.

As a result, Wizz Air’s market share will increase to 41 percent, strengthening the airline’s market leadership in Hungary.

The Budapest fleet, that will soon be expanded to 17 aircraft, will carry a total of almost 7 million passengers to and from Budapest this year,

The statement quoted Valeria Bragarenco, Wizz Air’s communications manager, as saying that the continued network expansion demonstrates the company’s commitment to the Hungarian market. Wizz Air currently operates a fleet of 220 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft. The airline became the preferred choice of 62 million passengers in the financial year ending March 31, 2024.
