Wizz Air will provide around four million seats on its Hungarian flights to 70 destinations this summer season, thereby maintaining its market leadership in the country.
This summer season, Wizz Air will continue to offer more seats than any of its competitors. According to their announcement, this will further strengthen their market leadership position in Hungary. The company expects to deliver another outstanding performance in the travel period from April to the end of September, following last year’s record-breaking passenger numbers.
In last summer season, approximately three million passengers flew on Wizz Air flights from Hungary. Most of the passengers booked their tickets well in advance, with the most popular destinations being beach resorts and historic cities with many attractions.
The airline expects the most popular destinations for Hungarian travelers this summer to remain Egypt, Greece, Spain, and Turkey.
In 2023, Wizz Air broke its previous passenger traffic record, carrying more than 60.3 million passengers, an increase of around 32 percent compared to 2022; in Hungary, this represented 5.2 million passengers and a 29 percent increase compared to the previous year. The company reported revenues of EUR 3.896 billion for the financial year 2023, from April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023. Wizz Air currently operates a fleet of 196 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft.
As Világgazdaság writes, Wizz Air’s summer schedule offers tickets from HUF 5,790 (EUR 15). Passengers can travel from Budapest and Debrecen (eastern Hungary) to a total of 70 destinations, including popular destinations such as Larnaca (Cyprus), Heraklion, Corfu and Rhodes (Greece), Burgas (Bulgaria), Alghero and Catania (Italy), Antalya (Turkey), Malta, Alicante, Malaga and Palma de Mallorca (Spain). Thanks to the airline’s new flights, travelers will also be able to visit Sarm es-Sejk and Cairo (Egypt), Copenhagen (Denmark) from Budapest, and Rome (Italy) from Debrecen this summer.
