The Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC) Leadership Academy held a major international conference on the current challenges, trends and new dimensions of leadership training, with presentations and round-table discussions on Wednesday in Budapest.
Balázs Orbán, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the MCC and Political Director of the Prime Minister, recalled that today we live in an era of crises, when challenges cannot be tackled with static tools, and when good leaders are needed, people with a good heart and the ability to go beyond the existing framework to create new rules.
Balázs Orbán stressed that
the essence of leadership talent lies in the fact that personal courage and ability are always coupled with action in the interests of the community”.
In his view, personal responsibility often gets lost in the cogs of self-managed systems, and with it freedom, “and without good leaders there is no freedom – and the Western world lacks good leaders – because freedom and responsibility are known to go hand in hand”.
Itay Talgam, world-renowned conductor and creator of the Maestro Leadership Program, described the characteristics of an effective leader through examples of conductors.
Other speakers at the event included Dénes Kemény, former captain of the Hungarian national water polo team, Konstantin Korotov, Professor at ESMT Berlin, Veronika Spanarova, Country Officer, Citi Hungary, and Bálint Lévai, CEO of BiotechUSA.
