A Visegrad summit of heads of state will take place in Prague today, the Czech presidential office announced. The heads of state will present the outcome of the summit at a press conference in the afternoon.
Czech President Petr Pavel has invited Polish President Andrzej Duda, Hungarian President Katalin Novák, and Slovak President Zuzana Caputová to Prague. The meeting will take place at Prague Castle. The V4 heads of state last met in Bratislava last October during the Slovak presidency. At the time, the Czech Republic, which took over the group’s annual presidency on July 1 this year, was represented by Petr Pavel’s predecessor, Milos Zeman.
The heads of state will discuss the latest projects of the International Visegrad Fund and exchange views on international issues.
As the Prague presidential office writes, the Czech Republic sees the Visegrad Group as a platform for good neighborly relations in Central Europe. “Cooperation should be practical and in the interest of the people of the four countries,” as the Czech presidency’s motto “V4 for citizens” indicates, the CTK news agency quoted from the statement.

The heads of state will discuss programs involving the Western Balkans and the Eastern Partnership countries, as well as ways to contribute to the resolution of the consequences of the Russian attack on Ukraine. The meeting will also focus on securing the modern economic development of the V4 and stability in the region, as well as cross-border cooperation.
