Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and several other European politicians have joined the renewal congress of the League party led by Matteo Salvini in a video call. Mr. Orbán said he was proud to fight together with Italian patriots, Magyar Nemzet reported.

“Dear Matteo, dear Italian patriots, I welcome you from Budapest, the capital of sovereign Hungary,” Mr. Orbán began his message. He recalled that Salvini and his political community had fought great battles in recent years and had been subjected to attacks that sought to silence them by means reminiscent of the darkest decades of the communist dictatorship. However, as the Hungarian Prime Minister said, these attempts have failed.

You defeated the agents of the deep state, because the truth, especially the truth of the patriots, cannot be silenced,”

Viktor Orbán emphasized. “In recent years, you have shown that you are ready to make the greatest sacrifices for Italy, for Italian patriots. You have risked your freedom to protect Italians and the whole of European civilization from illegal migrants,” he added. The Prime Minister stressed that Hungary is grateful for Salvini’s courage and is proud to be fighting for the future of Europe together with him.

At the Italian League party’s congress in Florence, participants confirmed Matteo Salvini as party president, who was the only candidate for the post, Hirado.hu reported. The Italian deputy prime minister will serve as party president until 2029. Salvini, 52, born in Milan, has been leader of the League since 2013, and is in his third term as party president. In a speech before his re-election, Salvini reaffirmed his loyalty to the government coalition led by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

“I work very well with Meloni and the other allies,” he said.

Salvini’s goal as party president is to make the League the strongest right-wing force in Italy again.”

However, he added, this must not be at the expense of constructive cooperation with Meloni, the leader of the Brothers of Italy party.

In her video message to the renewal congress, Marine Le Pen, leader of the National Rally (RN), said that the civil rights of French voters had been questioned and that her party would fight with all possible legal means to be able to stand in the presidential elections. We will never give in to this violence,” Le Pen said, adding that “it is not only in France that attempts are being made to manipulate democracy.” They are also threatening to ban their friends in Portugal. “The total freedom of our people is being called into question,” Le Pen said. “We will continue to fight a peaceful, democratic struggle.”

“We will take a leaf from the book of Martin Luther King, who fought for civil rights, because today in France the civil rights of the people are being questioned,” said Marine Le Pen.
