Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán held a meeting with Marine Le Pen, leader of the French National Rally in Budapest. During the meeting, they assessed the situation of the growing European right, especially in view of next year’s European Parliament elections.

The continent’s national, conservative parties must give a joint and strong response to Brussels’ imperial ambitions, its misguided economic policies and its pro-migrant initiatives, they declared during the meeting. In Budapest they also discussed the political representation of families, national and Christian values, which is at the heart of the activities of the Hungarian governing parties and the French National Rally.

In his social media post the Hungarian Prime Minister called Le Pen a “true patriot” and called for a change at the helm of the European Union in order to stop illegal migration.

For her part, the French politician wrote that “the migration pact, the Green Deal, the invasive European bureaucracy remain more than ever a major concerns for the peoples and nations of Europe”.
