Viktor Orbán spoke about the support provided for Jewish communities, relations between Hungary and Israel, and the Russo-Ukrainian war with Israel’s Chief Rabbi David Lau.
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán received Israel’s Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi David Lau in his office in the Carmelite Monastery, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief told Hungarian news agency MTI on Thursday.
Rabbi Lau thanked the Hungarian government for the support they provide with a view to strengthening Jewish communities in Hungary and around the world, and expressed his gratitude for the help and care that Hungary is providing for Jews fleeing from Ukraine.

According to Havasi, the parties were pleased to acknowledge the close, strategic alliance that exists between Israel and Hungary, and in the context of the war in Ukraine, stressed the importance of an immediate ceasefire and the restoration of peace.
